How Applyr handles your data

Last updated: August 2026

Plainly: Applyr stores the professional information you give it so it can review your CV, recover your evidence, and build truthful CVs. It sends only what a task needs to AI providers to generate results. It does not sell your data.

1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains what Applyr AI (“we”, “us”) collects when you use the Applyr AI application, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.

2. Information we collect

To make Applyr work, we store the information you give us: your account name and email address, your professional profile (career context such as your headline, summary, experience, education, skills and career goals), the CV files and text you upload, the evidence claims you verify or add, the jobs you add for matching, and the CVs you build. We also store technical session data (an encrypted session cookie) so you stay signed in.

3. Why we collect it

All of this information exists to run one feature: building a truthful, reusable record of your career so Applyr can review CVs, recover evidence, match jobs, and build tailored CVs from what you have actually done. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run advertising on your data.

4. How your information is processed by AI

Applyr uses third-party AI providers (including OpenRouter, which routes model requests to AI model providers) to analyse your CV, extract evidence, match jobs, tailor CVs, and assist you while building CVs. When you use these features, the relevant text you provide (your CV, job description, or the section you ask us to improve) is sent to the AI provider to generate a result. We send only what the current task needs — not your whole profile when a single section would do. These providers process your data under their own policies.

5. AI allowance and your own API key

New accounts start with a small number of free AI actions (currently three), powered by Applyr's own AI account. Once those are used up, AI features pause until you connect your own AI provider key (for example Groq, OpenRouter, OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic) from Settings. The key you connect is encrypted before it is stored, is used only to run AI features on your behalf, and is never shown back to you or anyone else.

6. Data retention

We keep the data you provide for as long as your account exists, because your evidence profile and CVs are the product — deleting them would delete the value Applyr gives you. You can delete individual CVs, evidence items, and jobs at any time from the app. You can also ask us to delete your account and all associated data.

7. Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time. Most of this is available directly in the app: edit your profile, remove evidence or education, delete CVs and jobs. To request full account deletion, contact us at the address below and we will act on it. You can also export your data by viewing it in the app.

8. Security

We encrypt traffic to and from Applyr (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. API tokens are stored only as hashes. Any AI provider key you connect is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM using a key held separately from the database, and is decrypted only server-side when you actually use an AI feature. We use these measures to protect the data you entrust to us, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Future changes

If the way we use personal data changes materially — for example, if the free AI allowance or provider options change, or the data use expands beyond what is described here — we will update this policy, and where required we will ask for fresh consent before applying the change to data we already hold.

10. Contact

Questions, deletion requests, or corrections: contact the Applyr team through the contact details available on the Applyr website.
